Our Loss - Gordon May

OUR LOSS. Gordon May passed away in his sleep on October 6 at his home in Elizabeth Colorado. He was a long time reiner, riding with Vernon Performance Horses. In the show pen he was a great competitor, winning the 2005 RMRHA Summer Slide Non Pro and Intermediate Non Pro on his talented horse Duncans Dun It (Mudslide). He went on to represent RMRHA in the Mountain Affiliate Finals and then qualified for the North American Affiliate Championships held during the NRHA Futurity in Oklahoma City. Gordon will be remembered for his kind heart and passion for life. His optimism was contagious and his thoughtful and quiet strength made him a natural confidant and friend. He will be missed by all. Gordon is survived by his loving wife Julie. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 22 at the Parker United Methodist Church at 11805 S. Pine Drive.

Parker Funeral Home has a web page if anyone would like to leave a message.  Go to www.pfh-co.com.  There also will be time at the service if anyone would like to share any memories that they have of Gordon.

Eastern Slope Slide - The Eastern Plains Reining Horse Association would like to thank all that attended the Eastern Slope Slide in Castle Rock.  We had a great turnout and a super show.  Special thanks to the folks behind the scene that make the show run so well.  We are fortunate to have great volunteers and support for this show.  The stick horse competition was clearly one of the highlights of the show.  The teams took this event very seriously. Click here to watch a slideshow of this fun and competitive event.  Thanks to Creative Design Photo for the slide show.  Go to their website to view all photos from the show.

EASTERN SLOPE SLIDE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY As we move forward with plans for the Eastern Slope Slide, we're looking for volunteers to help with the gate, scribe for the judge, announcer assistant, warm-up pen monitors, and act as the judge for the stallion/gelding/mare classes. You can volunteer to help with a specific class or a day and time that works best for you. Contact Chris Taylor at c_taylor@rocketmail.com or give him a call at (303) 908-0838. Here is a great opportunity to fulfill your EPRHA volunteer requirements and be involved in producing EPRHA's NRHA approved show - we look forward to hearing from you!

EPHRA Wanted List. We can't do it without your help. The EPRHA membership is a reining family, and we all work together to get things done. Now is your opportunity to become more involved.  Volunteers are needed at our jackpot shows, and we're looking for a donation:

  • Scribes - Scribes are needed for our jackpot shows. You can contact Kathy if you'd like to scribe for one of our jackpot shows.  Interested in scribing but don't know how?  Not to worry - we'll teach you how!
  • Tractor Operator - We're looking for someone to operate the tractor and drag during the jackpot shows. Brian Lessig will do the ground preparation work prior to the show, but we need someone to drag the arena during the show. Please contact Brian if you're interested in helping with this.
  • EPRHA needs a Laptop - Thanks to the Boykins for their generous donation.  This laptop will be used to manage our jackpot shows.
